The Association of Native Americans at Yale, in partnership with the nonprofit Spirit Lake, LLC, celebrates this age-old tradition of midwinter gathering with food, social dances, and drumming by popular regional Powwow groups. It will be a lively celebratory event, and all students, faculty, and community members are invited to not only learn about but participate in our living, dancing, eating, and singing culture. There will be Eastern social dancing, a reflective component, spoken word poetry and a raffle to raise money for Spirit Lake's youth basketball tournament.
Special invitations are extended to our peers from the Ivy Native Council, friends from the American Indian Community House and NYC, Yale Native alumni, local tribal members, and Native people throughout Connecticut.
Dancers are invited to bring regalia and join. Parking information coming soon. Email sebastian.medina-tayac@yale.edu and spiritlakeinc@comcast.net for more details.
